The HZ University of Applied Sciences, an aquaculture knowledge and education institute, has been active in the field of practice-oriented aquaculture research since 2006. Within the DAE, HZ profiles itself with applied research and training.
HZ has a body of knowledge in the field of saline sustainable aquaculture (mariculture), mainly working with halophytes, polychaetes, micro- and macro algae and shellfish. HZ’s main research themes focus on production process optimization, new species, product quality and reuse of nutrients. HZ University has state of the art experimental facilities and modern laboratories and research is done in close collaboration with the aquaculture industry (mostly SME’s).
The HZ University of applied Sciences also covers aquaculture courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as training programs for professionals.
