In 2015, Wageningen University & Research and Hans Boon from Aquaculture Experience cooperated with CSIR-Water Research Institute, Ghana, in a Value Chain Analysis of the Aquaculture sector in Ghana. The analysis was performed on behalf of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The study was conducted through a desk study and a field work mission in Ghana. Over 25 actors in the value chain in Ghana were interviewed to assess bottlenecks as well as opportunities in their businesses.
In the first phase the findings of the analysis were laid down in a comprehensive report.
In the second phase three business cases for investments in aquaculture in Ghana were developed.
